Episode 2: The state-income-tax difference is important, but not the whole picture
Nevada does not impose an individual state income tax, while California does. That difference can be significant, but it should not be interpreted as an absence of taxes after a move. Federal income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other household or business costs may still apply.
Someone who becomes a California nonresident may also continue to have California-source income. Property, services performed in California, business activity, and some forms of deferred or equity compensation can require separate analysis.
